There’s something so homey and warming with making your own bread at home. Making this two flavour focaccia bread for the first time was surprisingly easy and incredibly good. The delicious aroma of the olive oil, rosemary, olives and tomatoes just swept my home all morning!
What you’ll need:
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet of active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup of warm water
- A good lug of olive oil
- Toppings of your choice
Mix the flour, yeast, salt and sugar in a bowl and make a well in the centre. Pour in a cup of warm water and about 2 to 3 tablespoons of olive oil
When the dough has pulled together, turn it out into a lightly floured surface and knead and smooth and elastic. Drizzle with olive oil from time to time as you knead and keep dusting with flour when its get sticky.
Oil a large bowl and place the dough in once it’s smooth and elastic. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit for about an hour to an hour and a half until the dough has doubled in size. You’ll see that my dough has become soft and pillowy.
Transfer the dough to your baking pan. Make sure the pan is well oiled.
Create your dips and wells by pressing you knuckles on the dough
You can really go with any toppings you like. For my focaccia, I made two toppings- a cherry tomato and basil mix and a black olive and rosemary mix
Bake the focaccia at 425° F for about 20 minutes
My focaccia turned out really lovely! It’s so easy to make and absolutely delicious to snack on, even my kitty loved it!
